Super Curly Balloons

We haven't posted a blog for a few days so here is a quick tutorial on making super curly balloons for decorating.

Firstly you need some 260Q's and some 160Q's. If these are new terms to you, the smaller balloons are called 160Q's due to the smaller size, and the larger ones are 260Q's.

Firstly we need to thread the smaller balloon into the larger balloon all the way to the end. Then tie the end off.

Next we get the balloon pump and inflate the outer balloon after pulling the inner balloon out slightly.

You may have to hold quite tight at. also note that the further out you pull the inner balloon, the tighter the curls will be. So now pump it up.

Next we tie the balloon at the end, tying both balloons in a knot, not just the yellow inner balloon.

Finally as a finishing touch we poke in the end that is sticking out, to hide the first knot. you may want the second knot to tie to other balloons.

You are Done! now stand back and marvel at your creation, then tie it onto some more balloons for added effect.

Princess Party

For a perfect princess party all you need is lots of pink and sparkle!

To decorate the party venue use clusters of balloons in shades of pink and lilac, there are also foil balloons with Disney Princesses and Tinkerbell which are ideal.

You could create a ceiling of balloons which looks really pretty. Helium fill a selection of pink balloons, tie on some coordinating curling ribbon to the balloon leaving an extra long tail, when you let the balloons go the ribbon tails will hang down creating a lovely effect.

To decorate the table use pretty pink tablecloths and scatter sparkling table confetti all over. To transform your chairs use a length of tulle which is available quite cheaply and tie round the chair into a big bow at the back. Use plastic jewellery and tiaras as table decorations and feather boas can be used as table runners.

To keep little princesses amused why not turn an area of the room into a beauty parlour. Cover a coffee table with a cloth have a large mirror maybe draped with some fairy lights for the film star effect. Have a selection of make up, nail varnishes and hair accessories available and don’t forget to have face wipes handy for removing the make up afterwards.

Pirate Party

This theme suits boys of all ages and is very easy to create. Below are some ideas

Using balloons on their own or in clusters are a great way to decorate a room. A pirate gift bag can easily be transformed into a balloon weight by putting a heavy object in the bottom of the bag and place some black tissue paper on top. The balloons can then be tied to the handles of the bag.

Modelling balloons can be twisted into swords for your little pirates and black face paint is ideal for painting eye patches and pirate stubble!

Use black tablecloths and cut out simple skull & cross bone shapes which can be either scattered on the table or fixed easily in place with some spray adhesive. If you want to be a little more creative use a pale blue tablecloth and draw a giant treasure map complete with an X marks the spot.

Get creative with some cardboard boxes painted to look like treasure chests and fill them with ‘treasure’ for example you could use plastic jewellery that can be picked up cheaply at pound shops or chocolate coins.

For an easy game have a ‘Treasure Hunt’. Hide lots of little gifts or sweets around your venue and give clues as to where to find the prizes or draw treasure maps with picture clues.

Ideas for decorating a venue

There are lots of ways that balloons can be used to decorate a venue whether indoor or outdoor, a marquee or church hall balloons can dramatically alter the look of a room.

To create large impact an arch is ideal. Either a String of Pearl or Twisted Arch are great for using behind a top table, a cake table or over an entrance. For a dance floor a balloon canopy made from multiple arches supported by columns will give it a wow factor.

Table centrepieces can be very expensive if using fresh flowers, a much simpler and very popular way of decorating tables is to use balloons. A cluster of either 3 or 5 balloons tied to a weight can be placed on each table. There are many combinations you could use, all latex or latex and a foil balloon as a topper (see below)

The most important thing to remember is that all the balloons should be the same size and height around the room for a uniform look.

If you have a room where the ceiling is not very pretty to look at you could try covering it in balloons. Inflate lots of latex balloons in your chosen wedding colours, tie a piece of coordinating curling ribbon to the neck of each one the ribbon should be approx an arms length, then simply let go! The balloons will float up covering the ceiling and the ribbon will hang down in beautiful cascades of curls. This is a really easy but very pretty effect.
